jj, here is my analysis and recomendation.
1) That "flame thrower" coil may draw more current then the stock coil which could contribute to premature point failure...
2) That "flame thrower" coil likely has a different inductance then the factory original JD coil which may be part of the problem...
3) The coil inductance and condensor capacitance need to be properly matched and perhaps that non stock flame thrower coil, having a different inductance, is causing premature condensor failure...
4) When an ignition shuts down only after its good and hot, that could be caused by HV breakdown of the coil and its NOT necessarily a condensor problem.
5) I cant know what your tractor now has, if its been modified IN ADDITION TO THAT FLAME THROWER, or whatever else may have been changed, HOWEVER if I recall (no warranty its been tooooooooooo long) "some" of those vintage Deeres used a ballast resistor located on or near the ignition switch such as a resistive wire. Some 12 Volt Deeres of that vintage used a 6 volt coil and had an on or near ignition switch ballast device IF YOURS HAS THAT (I cant know form here if it had or was modified, I saw MANY that got changed over the years) I would take it back to original.
What I would suggest is to 1) Check to see if the tractor has any sort of ballast resistor or wire link or fuse wire on or near the ignition switch............ 2) I would REPLACE THE FLAME THROWER with an original Deere coil used on that tractor...........3) I would install a new condensor properly suited for the Deere coil.......THEN SEE IF THE NEW CONDENSOR LASTS LONGER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Like others Ive seen a ton of new condensors be bad out of the box and if all else is well (none of the above is the problem) they may just be bad.
Check for any ballast device, use an original coil, install a new quality condensor (if you can get one lol) let us know what happens. Again overheating ignition failure may be a coil or a mis matched coil and condensor problem, not necessarily a condensor problem alone

Today's Featured Article - Harvestin Corn in Southern Wisconsin: The Early Years - by Pat Browning. In this area of Wisconsin, most crops are raised to support livestock production or dairy herds in various forms. Corn products were harvested for grain, and for ensilage (we always just called it 'silage'). Silo Filling Time On dairy farms back in the 30's and into the first half of the 40's, making of corn silage was done with horses pulling a corn binder producing tied bundles of fresh, sweet-smelling corn plants, nice green leaves with ear; the
