I purchased a 2600 Model BA2230 Sunday and we tested the PTO without load, it engaged fine. Yesterday I took the 5' brush hog behind the house and it would do great in thin, short grass but in thicker areas it seemed the PTO rpm's would drop even though the motor ran normal, just laying grass over and not cutting any more. Luckily the guy I bought from agreed to pay for half the repair, figuring it would be a slipping PTO clutch. Before I take it in, wondering if others have experienced similar issues or if I should proceed the PTO clutch-route? My guess is that someone ran it too low with blades not turning and burned up the PTO clutch as it was trying to keep them going.
