Well yes as has been stated really the Deutz-Allis 9100 series was a White with a Deutz engine and front sheetmetal (and paint color) to match the styling of the other Deutz-Allis tractors. I have never heard it termed the other way around as a White being a Deutz-Allis with a Cummins. Not even a Deutz man such as myself would claim that.

The original 9100 series was made at the New Idea plant in Coldwater Ohio. About halfway through the run after AGCO took over production was moved to Independence, Missouri. And most if not all started being painted Allis (Persian) Orange. A 9130 was a late addition to the series and I believe all of them would have came from Missouri.

Deutz-Allis needed bigger tractors in the US market and knowing that their German larger frame tractors would not adapt well with US farmers, they reached out to White for help. But by that time the White was a very antiquated design and the problem was no one except White people really liked the design. Numerous mistakes were made when Deutz bought Allis (obviously) and Allis was working on a new larger frame row crop series at the time Deutz bought Allis, but Deutz (with typical German arrogance) scrapped its development. Deutz should have continued the development of the new Allis tractors and just put the Deutz engine in it, as that was one problem Allis had was they did not have a big engine for the tractor. I have read Allis had prototypes with Komatsu engines.

With all being said about the 9100 series being a "mut" of a tractor, which it is, one would fit right in on our farm in multiple ways. I always wanted a 9190. Obviously we have a number of Deutz tractors as it is. The 9190 having been built in Coldwater, the same plant where our old Uni-System came from. And the White transmission/rear end would fit in with our Oliver plows. Then I would get correct model (500 I believe) Case 7 or 8 bottom plow to pull with it that was really a rebadged White plow to match the rear end of the 9190 even better as well as matching our JI Case 430 and other JI Case heritage that my family has.

Today's Featured Article - Listening to Your Tractor - by Curtis Von Fange. Years ago there was a TV show about a talking car. Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo. ... [Read Article]
