Away if you do not move the tractor on a trailer at highway speeds. toward you if you do. (catches rain and deflects it down into the engine at speed in rain) or sideways if some of both (kinda also pushes a little exhaust to the side) or if you park the tractor in a single position outside, consider the direction of prevailing wind, and turn it so that wind closes the cap.
