Yep, I've been buying more from online auctions lately, I especially like those I can go and preview an item, say tractor or car, before the auction. Then, with my max bid in mind, I bid and leave. That keeps me from getting wound up in the excitement of the countdown and bidding too much.
Just be wary of the buyers' premiums and cash discounts ahead of time.
