I don't recall ever seeing this before. We are on the fifth day of a predicted 11 day rain free stretch. I have my last three fields down right now. Our ground was dry coming out of the winter, but we then got a lot of rain from mid April through mid May, but very little since, so the ground is very dry now. The growth was very good early on, but there has been very little leaf added for the last month. As I was baling yesterday I stopped to check the weight of the bales periodically. I had to keep adding tension because they kept getting lighter as the day went on. I will be done way earlier than ever before, but if we don't get a lot of rain soon there will not be much of a second cut.
