Hello Every body: John Deere 332 turn key on glow plugs fire up light goes OFF turn key to start postion NOTHING the small dash lights come ON. Removed relay K1 put meter on 12V+ and 12V- where the coil is turn key to start No voltage reading. When I turn key to start postion 11.8V appears at one side of relay contact the side that when contacts CLOSE transfers DC voltage to solonoid. I have confirmed negative to the relay but am getting no 12V+ to relay coil so the contacts will not close. Engine starts right up when 12V+ is applied to small solonoid terminal directly. I had this problem a year ago and I just put a new relay K1 in and the starter worked great with the key even through the winter and the first couple grass cuts I thought it was fixed but the problem has come BACK again when I turn the key to START no starter turn over no relay contacts are closing.

The young person asking questions received positive feedback and advice from total strangers who "told it like it is" with the care many reserve for their own kids. The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
