Fellow I used to know (He's long passed away) had two of those on IHC 1/2 cab trucks. Kept the cable hoe on one and a dragline boom on the other.(Hence the 1/2 cabs.) He dug a couple basements for Dad. He was GOOD!! Didn't the dig or level anything after he was done!
His story was he went to Ft.Peck Dam during construction to get a job. He got in a long line and got to the window. He asked what kind of help you need? The clerk says "you know how to run a drag line?" Joe replied "no, but I can learn!" Clerk says, "No, experienced only. NEXT!" So the story goes, Joe went out that night, found an idle drag line by a pile of gravel. He moved the pile over, then moved it back with the drag line. Next morning he went to the Ceark and says, "I'm experienced!" He got hired!!!
