The son's been working on a couple of tractors; a Massey Harris 20 and a Case DC. Both tractors use a 5/8" belt for fan, generator, etc. Wanting to convert from generator to a 12 volt 10si 3-wire alternator system, but cannot seem to track down one that has a pulley that uses the 5/8" belt. Been to several parts stores, including NAPA; got the "deer in the headlights" look from all parts people when I tell them we are converting to alternator, as it's "not in the computer" (no surprise there). I truly miss the days of old-timers in part stores that knew what you wanted and retrieved items from shelf without looking at the old books.
Those of you that have accomplished it, where have you found the elusive 10si 3-wire alternator equipped with 5/8" width pulley, along with a part number(s)? I see a lot of the one-wire alternators with the 5/8" pulley available online, but that is not what we want. I've even inquired about swapping pulleys out, but get the same "what model is it for" response which is moot as they don't understand the concept. Thanks for the help!

Since we can’t actually talk to our tractors, though some of the older sect of farmers might disagree, we use our five physical senses to observe and construe what our iron age friends are trying to tell us. We have already talked about some of the colors the unit might leave as clues to its well-being. Now we are going to use our noses to diagnose particular smells. ELECTRICAL SMELLS
