I built a trellis for a woman and installed it yesterday. Used some old rusty metal clothes line poles I cut down on another job and welded them together for her grape vine. It was rather crude. It was about 90 degrees and 90 percent humidity and I was sweating pretty hard after digging a couple of post holes. I got the pipes in the holes and braced then went to get the 2 80 lb bags of Sackrete to cement them in. First bag went fine. I hefted it up on my shoulder and carried it to the back yard and dumped it in the hole. On the second bag I had it up on my shoulder and the bag decided to bust in half. The mix poured down all over me - both inside and outside my tee shirt which was tucked in my pants, into my boots, pockets, everywhere. Had a couple of pounds inside my shirt. The job was about 25 miles from home so I didn't want to leave and come back. Residential neighborhood so I couldn't strip down anywhere. I emptied my shirt and boots out but the gravel is running down my a$$. Good Lord how miserable was that! So I hurriedly finished the job. Swept the concrete off her driveway and put it in the hole. Hosed the driveway down, poured water in the post holes, strung the wires on the trellis, picked up my tools and headed for home - gravel in my pants so it's hard to sit still, powder sticking to my neck and hardening into a crust by the time I got home. But all was well. I had a shower, made some lunch and then decided I deserved a nap. And the lady liked the "steam punk" trellis, paid me cash and tipped me besides. Just another day at work...
