My uncle had that same setup for his dairy in the 80s. Super M and John deere chopper. I spent some time on it. He would never narrow up the chopper and when he would come to a car he would just drop the chopper in the ditch. Well that axle on the chopper finally broke the welds and he would slobber some weld on it and off to the field again. One day I told him I would fix it so it didn't break again. Just got done with welding school. I ground down his slobber to good metal and started laying beads. Not to long after that I joined the Navy as an Aviation structual mechanic. Two years pass and I'm talking to him and he tells me my weld broke. I told him B.S. well the weld didn't break the whole top of the axle tube ripped off LOL.
