Son and I left home around 7:30 am got to Portland around 10:30,
Traffic wasn't to bad going across 205 bridge over the Columbia river into Washington. Nice drive most of the way towards beach.
Got with in about 30 miles of place to pick up crawler, pulled over to let my little dog do her job. seen little smoke coming out from under the hood, I just figured some oil had tripped onto exhaust manifold. Got back into the truck tried to start it,wouldn't start so I released hood and got out to open.Could not OR would not open it as fire was coming out between hood and radiator. Had son get out of truck with both little dogs. By this time the whole front of truck was engulfed in flames. Son and I unloaded everything out of bed of truck. and put everything on my trailer.
Truck was and is beyond saving. fire truck finally showed up, put fire out.
Needless to say I did not get to pick up the crawler.
I called a YTer---ArleninOR, He drove 125 miles one way to get my trailer and all tools, tires and 15 gals of gas and hauled back to his place, I had my nephew from Vancouver,WA get me and Shawn.
Arlen brought us home this morn,190 miles one way..with the trailer.

After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
