We baled sm squares today in SE Il. Grandson started raking by 6:30. Alfalfa mowed monday was to dry Tuesday afternoon. So raked it with the dew on. He ran the rake to fast across a washout. Bent the loopes on rake and broke and bent at least 6 teeth. Took about 2 hours to fix. Then baler swarmed, had a big knot of wire caught on bill hook? Then broke a shear bolt in needle's. Plus the one in flywheel. Rebaling the bales it didn't tye. Then I really screwed it up. I didnt have a bolt for needles. So used a longer one. Put 2 larger nuts on it for spacers. Next time it tried to tie. Bolt and nuts caught the 3/4 rod pulling the needles. Bent it into a U. Bad deal. But plunger stop worked. Got it going in about 2 more hrs. Bottom line finally got 15 acres of second cutting alfalfa baled and under cover by 8. Rained around 9. Power has gone off 3 times. Nothing went right. But thank God no one got hurt!.
