These likely get you real close but there are several procedures that can cause various counters to reset. Migration/conversion to a new database is one, or maybe to a new machine is another. It shouldn't but it happens sometimes, and maybe not always noticed at the time. Generally when counters are reset it is decided to let it go unless there is some critical reason to have the counters accurate.
For example a computer migration from IBM mainfram to Digital VAX in 1991 caused 200+ older homicide cases in the crime reporting system for Wichita to be reset to the same date, time, and location. Of course that mattered and we still had the original data so we cleaned up the procedures and re-ran the conversion, but for something like forum post count we likely would have let it go.
