Gentlemen, I understand the flat strap cable will work on either positive or negative ground. When I said that I was referring to best to use it on a negative to ground system since he had said it was a negative cable, the clamp of which should be for a smaller post size than a positive clamp cable. Poor wording on my part on that.
His original post said he wanted to know about using the negative 00 cable (clamp size aside), which one would assume to be insulated, on the positive, which would be ground on his system. He then wanted to use the (assumed uninsulated) flat strap cable on the negative, which is not the ground side in his case. I can see that leading to a big smoke show, that was what I was trying to convey. Am I misreading what was originally asked? I don't think I've seen a manufacturer use a flat strap cable on the negative post of a positive ground system, but I will say I haven't seen everything.
