Hello.
I put a post out there a few days ago about breaking shear bolts in my flywheel. There was a response that questioned whether or not my flywheel is wobbly, and it is. The culprit was mentioned to be the bushing, so I bought myself a new one. I took the flywheel off tonight and that old bushing in there looks fine. The new one has dimples in it, and the old one does too. It looks just as thick as the new one also. The hub gets greased regularly. So, I'm not sure what my problem is on the wobble. So far I have not replaced the old bushing. I guess it wouldn't hurt to go ahead and replace it and see what happens, but if the old one was worn I would think I would not see the dimples.
In addition the whole flywheel will slide about a quarter inch on the shaft if the nut is where the cotter pin goes. I'm looking at a John Deere parts diagram and I'm not missing a part, there's actually an additional washer on my flywheel hub. I was at another farm today, they had a couple old John Deere balers there and neither one had a kicker. Those flywheels were tight, they did not slide or wobble. I'm wondering if there's too much wear between the teeth on my drive shaft and the grooves in the hub piece that slides inside the flywheel.
Any help you can provide is appreciated as always.

Today's Featured Article - Listening to Your Tractor - by Curtis Von Fange. Years ago there was a TV show about a talking car. Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
