heres a true story
My freind has a stone masonry buisness,,I worked with him many times over the years
He had a hard time finding help,,its a tough ,hardworking job,,but very interesting,,and satisfying rewarding job .
He just couldnt find anyone willing to try it'
He called me,,said come help me please till I find someone,,that went on for many years. We would each mix cement,,and go at laying stone etc,,all was well.
He has a small farm,,a field in front he used to brush hog occasionally.
One day a young man with an old flatbed stopped in,,asked him if he could take over the field,,to get the hay.He was just out of high school,,had been working at a big dairy farm,,but it went out of business. He had some old equipment,,and decided that summer he would go around town,,scout up every patch he could find.
As this story goes on,,lol,,, my freind said you can have the field,it would help him to keep it clean, but,,,,how would you like a job?
The boy said,,I would,,but I really would like to do the hayfields I Have acquired. My freind said,,how about this idea. You work with us,,,when you need an afternoon to cut hay,,you leave early,,we can start early too,if that will help, So the next day my freind explained the story to me,,the boy was waiting in the truck when my freind got up in the morning. Right from the start,,the young man was polite,,and a very good worker. He had run skid steers at the farm,,so he was great at that,,and very good at the cement mixer,, We all worked together for years,,till I got sick. Over the years ,,this young man would work, when he was caught up,,he would work at laying stone,,we both taught him as we worked along. Years later now,,my freind is getting older,,ready to retire. He is passing his business on to this young man I just spoke of.
The young man is still doing hay,,and working. He can unload hay all night,,and still be waiting in the truck early in the morning.Once in Awhile he took an afternoon,,but never took advantage of the deal my freind made with him.
When I got sick ,I Sold my white chevy truck to this young man,,he is still driving it,,and it has towed haywagons all summer for two years now,,lol

Today's Featured Article - Old Time Threshing - by Anthony West. A lovely harvest evening late September 1947, I was a school boy, like all school boys I loved harvest time. The golden corn ripens well and early, the stoking, stacking,.... the drawing in with the tractors and trailers and a few buck rakes thrown in, and possibly a heavy horse. It would be a great day for the collies and the terrier dogs, rats and mice would be at the bottom of the stacks so the dogs, would have a busy time hunting and killing, all the corn was gathered and ricked in what we c
