This morning. The usual hair pulling and tooth gnashing. But it's done. Small piece of new seeding. All weeds. Looks like a poor catch with the dry weather. Ragweed,pigweed and such make for a dawg gone heavy bale. Piece of bale wrap got wrapped around the PTO shaft on the dump truck and ripped off the ignition wire to the glow plugs. Crawled under the truck and fixed that.(10;30 pm with a flashlight) truck still didn't start. Decided to hoist the white flag for the evening. Jeff found a burned fuse this morning. Since round bales start to heat rather quickly if they don't get bagged within a few hours, he decided to pick up the rest of the round bales before I went after TMR. Oh yeah, the skid steer has a tire that doesn't stay up. Had to pump that up a couple of times..................The TMR guy was on the phone calling Jeff wondering if everything was alright since we hadn't picked up TMR yet just as I pulled into the driveway. Did I mention that we broke the right side truck rack in two pieces? I drove over a rock didn't know was there and the stakes in the back half of the rack popped out. Only two good boards holding it together, broke those lifting it with the bale spear. So I have a some boards to replace this week. one field which is usually a frog pond on normal years did real well yield-wise and the rest was about what you would expect with the dry weather we had. If we get a decent third cutting we should be in good shape for hay. Told the TMR guy that one of Jeff's biggest problems was that his help is getting old and boogered up. TMR guy laughed and told Jeff not to feel bad about his poor seeding because he had 255 acres that looked just like it.

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
