we have used and abused a 434 diesel for about 25 years. low range gives it slow speeds,a little under 40 horses,very easy on fuel. had some problem with pinion shaft needle bearings,we ran it too slow on a pto cement mixer the top shaft was running with out oil. have since read the manual,only use pto in low range. parts are pricey from england
