If you crank the tractor much and it doesn't start the carb will drip gas for couple of moments. All the old Farmalls will do that. I think the question is why does it take some much cranking to get it started. I would start with cleaning and the gaping the points and make sure you have good plugs with he proper gap. Also is your tractor a mag or distributor. Is it still 6 volts. Could be drawing so much power to turn the engine there is not enough to get strong spark at the plugs. What are you using for plugs. You need at least a heat range higher than stated in the manual with today's gasoline.
