Seems to be some discussion as to what John Deere has available for painting tractors today. My local dealer, who also restores his own tractors, has told me to paint with the agricultural green paint now offered by Deere. There is also a "classic" green that I'm told is for the newer series tractors, i.e. lawn and garden and the new compacts. The older lead based classic green, which to me is the original "darker" green, is no longer available. I think the agricultural green looks OK (I've seen many painted this color) but it looks too light to me. I have not compared the new classic and agricultural green side by side for color shade. While on the subject of paint, has anyone had problems getting the yellow John Deere paint to cover without using at least three to four coats? Either brushing or spraying, I have had to use more coats than usual. I know it is a light color but it seems very thin. Maybe we can have some discussion on these topics for us "first-time" restoration novices. Good luck!
