Hello everyone. I've got a 1977 2640 with shuttle shift forward reverser. I've changed the hydraulic filter and sump screen but upon start up, I loose power steering temporarily until the main pump catches up. Also, the 3 point and loader chatter when raising up. As the tractor warms up the chatter somewhat goes away but not completely... I read that on non-reverser tractors that there is a check valve in the main pump line that prevents oil from returning to the transmission pump when the tractor is off. That allows the main pump to have a supply of oil on demand. Since my tractor has a reverser, I don't think that the main line running into the reverser control valve has this check valve? I pulled both of the oil lines off of the reverser and neither one of them had a check valve in the line like the non-reverser tractors have. So, for reverser tractors, what keeps the oil from draining back into the transmission and cavitating the main pump upon startup? Also, any advice on how to stop the chatter would be great! I know that I have a main pump charge issue... just not sure what the deal is.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
