"Traction booster" or "draft control" does the same thing, when the plow encounters a "tough spot" they lift the plow/reduce plowing depth, and as a consequence there's a downward force on the rear tires to help "get the he77 out of there". (Countering the "suck" force of the plow to go ever deeper.)
Never made any sense to me, just a "workaround" that allows a tractor that's too small/too light/lacks HP to (sort of) do the job.
IMHO, the tough/wet spots in a field typically could use the deepest tillage/turning over of the soil and "Traction Booster" or "Draft Control" reduces the plowing depth just when it's most needed.
