The electric steering can be adapted to the old manual steer tractors.
But, as far as it being used on a working tractor, depends on how robust the steering gear is. Over time it will destroy the inner works of the gear as it is placing way more stress on the gear than it was ever intended to have, even when it was young and healthy.
For a parade tractor, sure, it will make life easier. The unit is somewhat bulky, so it won't be neatly hidden. And it will consume a good bit of battery, not practical with a generator. But starting with a fully charged battery, it will likely get you through a day of intermittent use.
