I have a 1996 Long 2610 with the shuttle shift transmission and have been having trouble with the machine jumping out of high range when into a good pull. Resorted to using a bungee cord to hold back the hi/lo shift lever to keep it in gear. Fast forward a couple months and its clutch time so I figured its a good time to look into the hi/lo problem. Took the transmission lose from the rear axle after already having it detached from the engine (because of the clutch) and found that what I am calling the engaging sleeve is worn pretty badly. This is the part that the hi/lo fork would slide in and out of the planetary reduction and connect to the shaft driving the rear axle. Problem is that unless you have worked on this tractor and know exactly what I am referring to it is hard explain to someone who sells parts what I need. My question is, do any of you have the parts manual that would be able to get me a part number to this thing so that I can be sure I am ordering exactly what I need? I have the service manual but it does not give any part numbers at all. Any help would be appreciated.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
