In the hay day of the 70s, the New Ulm polka festival got out of hand hard to control, it sorta moved over to the small town of Gibbon. Thry had a complex of 3 ballrooms and some tents for the 4 day weekend. Drew thousands. To a town of less than 1000 population!
Still a lot of polka bands around, several of my relatives have family or more pro bands or are parts of other polka bands. Peter and Paul Wendinger might be the best known of the relatives, Paul has been gone a number of years now of course.
Bandwagon on KEYC TV continues on, must be 50 or more years, weekly local half hour polka show filmed on mondays, aired on the weekend. When I was young it was sponsored by JD for probably 2 decades, making this a tractor thread!
