It’s so sad the asian built, pressed steel/disc brake hoists put Ratcliff out of business. I’m not sure when they went out. I sent several hoists back to the factory for refurb in 1998. They come back looking like new. I first used them when I started working on water towers in 1977. I’m not sure of the model, but most of them were 1 1/2 ton single part or you could 2 part the chain for 3 ton. We also had some 6 ton models that used roller chain. The Ratcliff company logged the serial numbers. They could tell the original purchaser by the serial number. I still have at least one in working condition. There is a 50 ton Ratcliff chain fall for sale on ebay. Been on there a long time. Nobody wants to pull that much chain these days.
