I replaced the cylinder on my 5610 this past June. Blew the shaft seal and was cheaper and quicker to get a new cylinder than rebuild the old one. I replaced ball joints also.
I removed the ball joints at each end while still on the cylinder. Left side popped loose real easy, right side took some "persuasion". When I got it out I found a lot of paint in the tapered joint.
Once you get it out the ball joints will screw off.
I replaced power steering filter and cylinder hoses also. Once back together turning back and forth bled the air out of the new cylinder. Messy job but not difficult
