Jay ..... well, part of the flip over to metric measurement I guess. Up here that started in 1970 I believe with temperature. You will find it hard to imagine but over the years, a person who grew up with the English system (much of which is still used in the US) like I did actually thinks metric eventually. Right now, my mind has a hard time with Farenheit temperature but at the same time, a lot of stuff is still done in Imperial measure ..... like inches and feet for buildings, etc. Everyone still thinks of their height and weight up here as feet, inches, and pounds even though it is now on driver's licenses and birth certificates as centimeters and kilograms. I would get a lot of argument if I told those of you in the US that it is a better system and much simpler to understand .... which it really is, but converting is tough. When we used gallons, it was a different gallon than what you use, Imperial vs US gallons. Ours was 25% bigger .... 160 fluid ounces vs 132 for yours I think it was. Good example of the confusion that resulted. I am told that the US military uses metric and so does their space program but schools still use the old measurement units we all grew up with. Here's the link to metric changeover in Canada which I wouldn't expect anyone to read but there is some interesting stuff in there.

My model "H" even had the old style fronts with plenty of tread. My "L" fronts were mismatched Sears Guardsman snow tires, which I promptly tossed. Well, although these tires were in good shape as far as tread was concerned, they looked real sad. All were flat, but new tubes fixed that. In addition to years and years of scuffing and fading, they had paint splattered on
