On those old crawlers with the manual adjust oh man they can be a pain in the drain . In my youth i worked for a large construction company and even as a teenager i twisted wrenches and even had a co0mpany truck equiped to work on everything the company had in the field and the one tool for track adjusters was the ROSEBUD torch and the track adjusting wrenches for everything along with a six foot piece of pipe for the ones that got stubborn , i fought many from bigger crawlers D6 and on up TD 9 up to TD 24's The day they came out with the hyd. track adjusters was a god sent . SO what you need to get them to move is HEAT , sometimes you got LUCKY with only applying enough heat to get them warmed up to around 200 Degrees FAST , Fast is the KEY , you want the nut to heat more then the screw . If your trying to do this with a cutting tourch the screw and nut will almost heat even and your fighting a loosen battle . Once you get it to move you work it back and forth and apply your Kick ah Poo joy juice . If you try and keep on turning to get the adjustment you want you will pack the threads with rust and make things harder , by working back and forth and move ahead 1/4 turn at a time you will clean the threads as you go . Use a wire brush ahead of the nutto get as much dirt and rust out of the threads.
