I'm working on the rear end of a Shibaura sub-compact tractor. I need to remove the differential so I can swap out the ring gear. I'll be replacing the pinion shaft as well.
This is the bearing carrier as viewed from the inside.
This is the view from the outside.
It appears to me there are two possibilities as to how to remove the carrier and bearing:
1. The threaded holes on the outside with the long bolts screwed into them were empty. Possibly, the bolts can be screwed in and push against the housing to force the carrier out.
2. The threaded holes and bolts are used to attach a puller and the carrier is pulled out from the outside. I'm leaning toward this method.
