1) Get SEVERAL "detailed" estimates including things such as numbers, size, and species of trees to be cut and how the land it to be taken care of repaired and reclaimed and time frame for the harvest......
2) On one farm I hired a professional forester who spent a few days, counting, marking, identifying, even marking the direction of the fall, and then advertised the count and species and board feet then did the advertising and took bids AND EVEN AFTER PAYING HIM FOR HIS WORK AND MANAGEMENT FEE ETC I GOT A LOT MORE MONEY THEN THE TIMBER COMPANIES HAD OFFERED yayyyyyyyyyyyyy
