Saturday morning, my BIL and I went to look at a JD970 that was up for sale. BIL and his daughter had bought 40' containers for storage and needed a small tractor for use on her farmette. We looked at it, kinda rough, dinged up, with a 440 loader. It's got 3300 hours, but started easily in 30 degree temps, fluids looked good. Turned out to be a "95 year model, has a lot of wear in the right side kingpin, tie rod ends and steering cylinder ball joints. Has a new seat on it, new front wheels and tires, and rear tires were about 75-80%. Fellow was asking $4000, BIL got him down to $3250 after he told him all we had found on it. I drove it home at about 10MPH, wobbling all over the road!! Anything else we need to look for??!! BIL has a nephew who works for the regional JD Dealership chain, might be able to get parts cheaper that we can't get aftermarket.

Amana Colonies served as a respite where we ate a family style lunch that sustained us with more food than could reasonably fit into our ample physiques. The show at Ankeny
