I don't know about importing tractors from Canada, but over the years I have hauled 4 tractors from Idaho through Canada to Alaska. When I entered Canada with first two (one in 1977 and one in 1980) I had to give the Canadian customs the serial numbers and I had to check out with Canadian customs when I left Canada and entered Alaska. I was warned not to offload the tractors in Canada or I would be arrested. I think back then the Canadians were afraid I would try to sell the tractors in Canada. This last June I hauled 2 Farmall Cubs back to Alaska from Idaho. When I entered Canada I asked customs if they wanted serial numbers and they said no. At no time did the US customs seem concerned.
