When we retired we didn't even know what state we wanted to retire in and when we saw this area we both said I think this is it. We are about 25 miles west of Phoenix in the White Tank Mountains. The area is called Verrado and was once Caterpillar's Proving Grounds. We can reach the little Village of Verrado with the golf cart and all the neighbors are like us as they are from somewhere else. It was a big move for us as it is over two thousand miles from where we were both raised and worked all our lives. We still spend our summers on Lake Charlevoix in northern lower peninsula of Michigan.
