I've been working on an 600 gallon old milk tank, getting ready to pressure test the dimple plate heat exchanger. Is there a way to tell from the connections how many passes or sections to the heat exchanger/evaporator there is?
It looks to have a single 1/2" liquid line in the bottom and a pair of 3/4" vapour lines, one one each side near the top making me think its one big section or there would be a pair of liquid lines. I know on some old leaky tanks you can pinch off the bad side of evaporator and keep going on the other side.
Second question, does anyone know what the connection to the dimple plate looks like for these lines without cutting open the skin? I've watched a ton of milk tank repair videos on YouTube but they never show the liquid or vapour line connections. Also never shows up in literature on the tanks.
Looking to enlarge the 1/2" connection to put water through the direct heat exchanger instead of freon.
