Calcium chloride is whatever the bag of flakes cost, or you can just get a bag of "super hot" ice melt at the home depot which is the same thing, just half as much.
Weights are $1+ a pound if you want them NOW. Sure you can find better deals but you have to wait and search for months and years to gather enough weights.
Then you have a stack of weights sticking out to catch on doorways and fenceposts.
Maybe if you're hard on tires it makes sense to use cast weights, but normal people install tires and use them for DECADES, trouble free.
The problems arise when one morning you come out and find the tire inexplicably soft/flat. You pump it up and it holds air, so you keep using it.
What's really happened is the fluid is now outside the tube, and if you leave it like that, you deserve what you get. It's not the calcium chloride's fault, it's YOURS.
