I don’t think your tractor has a torque converter as Steve has indicated, maybe he wrote that mistakenly. Now I can’t say this with 100 percent certainty but I can’t find any specs that show those models are equipped with torque converters. With wide spread use of constant or infinitely variable drive trains the use of torque converters in tractors or many heavy draft applications has all but diminished, wheel loaders may be the exception. Your tractor is likely equipped with a torque limiting clutch that is a sort of slip clutch only meant to slip or cushion harsh shifts. This torque limiter clutch is between the engine and the transmission input.To be honest newer electronically modulated power shift transmissions may not even utilize these. The inching pedal generally operates a clutch pack that is built more robust to handle the engagement to get the tractor in motion and to handle slipping when slight movement in necessary. I web searched to see if I could find an article that would help explain how an inching pedal works. It just so happened that a manual named .. POWERSHIFT TRANSMISSION SYSTEM How It Works and Troubleshooting.. popped up. It just so happens that it is for a New Holland TG series tractors, see link. On page 42 it shows inching valve operation. No sure how close this is to the drive train in your tractor, but I would think it would be fairly close.
