A hundred years ago my dad was still recovering from WWI. He got kind of beat up with gas etc laying in those mud trenches. He was no kid as he was like 28 when drafted. Married mom in 21. In those days lot of families lived together until they could get enough together to rent some land etc.
I came along on 9-11- 36 and put a stop to the depression. Just in time for the next big war to come along. Dad used horses up until 1952. Planted, seeded, mowed etc. Did the heavy work with a F12 until he got he big Farmall H (I have it now).
I always thought we were pretty well off. Didn't know any better. Mom and Dad never did have indoor plumbing but I always remember having electricity. Lot of the neighbors did not have it though.
I remember him picking corn by hand. Then he bought a mounted picker for the F12. Picked for neighbors and they unloaded the corn with a scoop shovel. I even got in on one year of shoveling the oats into granary by hand. Next year we had an elevator.

Cylinders are the reason for the hydraulic circuit. They take the fluid power delivered from the pump and magically change it into mechanical power. There are many types of cylinders that one might run across on a farm scenario. Each one could take a chapter in
