I now live on my Grandparents farm built in the 20s. It was bare land only when they purchased it, they built the barn and house and all buildings, had to clear trees and hand dig tile. Lots of fencing for pasture. Horses at first, then a 10-20 and a F20 came later. Water was collected off the roofs of the house and barn with gutters and diverters, cistern in the house, large galvanized tank in the hay loft. Milking cows, raising hogs, many chickens and the huge garden. Coal was the heat for house. House and barn were wired when built in anticipation of the electric lines coming, which they did in the early 30s.That was the biggest blessing ever to come to the farm they said. Hard workers, but there was help from their extended families and neighbors . I always wondered how they cleared snow before the tractors ? Shovel I suppose. They were always frugal even in their elderly years. Family , church and farm were their life. A hard but good life is what they would say.

If it would just start when I turn the key, then I would use it more often. In addition to a bad case of old age, most of the tractor's original electrical system was simply too unreliable to keep. The main focus of this page is to show how I upgr
