House heated with propane units that don't require any electricity. And propane cooking stove so we can eat all we want.
I have a hand pump for the well so we can get all the water we need as long as we can move an arm up and down. I have a port in the laundry room so I can hook it up by the utility sink and we don't even have to leave the house to pump water.
I have an inverter that will run the fridge and the chest freezer. If I run one at a time the demand it low enough the alternators can handle it on my vehicles and/or tractor.
We don't loose power often, but we have occasionally for several days at a time. We've used all the above and been warm, cozy, and eating and drinking well even with no power in the middle of winter. And we keep the frozen food safe and secure summer or winter.
