Understand that the problem is in your filters. It is a function of not just temperature but also rate of fuel consumption. I agree with the 20 degree threshold. I had trucks towed in a few times when the drivers were lax with adding the fuel treatment. It was never down to 15 when it happened, but the noticeable number of trucks dead beside the highway would occur at around fifteen. The fuel will start to jell in the tank and the filter will hold just so much before it obstructs flow just like with any other solid contaminate. Once fuel starts to jell in the tank you have only so many gallons available to burn before it shuts down. This will be affected of course by hot fuel returning to the tank, but unless the tuck is burning a good amount of fuel the returning fuel will be just warm.
