My only near-death experience with Kinze was when I went to buy a new Kinze corn planter at the CIH dealer. It was in August. They said Kinze was having the deal of a lifetime. Order and pay for it now and take delivery sometime in April of the following year. They gave me the price and I said I'd think about it. On my way to the John Deere dealer, I thought about some of the things that could go wrong with a deal like that. What if Kinze goes bankrupt between now and April? What if their factory burns down or gets blown down or gets flooded out? Etc. When I got to the John Deere dealer they told me John Deere was offering the deal of a lifetime. Pay$1000 down and the rest on delivery sometime in March. Price they gave me was $4000 less than Kinze. A no-brainer. I'm very happy with my John Deere planter. It looks almost identical to the Kinze.
