Do you want some good suggestions from the wealth of knowledge here? Ask it this way- I currently have a 48 Ferguson TE20 (UK version) and a Ford Jubilee. Both are great tractors for their own purposes. However, I am starting to look at expanding the area I'm farming, adding about 40 more acres. Half will be tillable and the other half hay ground. This is hilly to rolling terrain. I would like to find a reliable older tractor from the 60's or 70's that has 3 point hitch as well as rear remote hydraulics (even better if it were diesel). The biggest implement I believe i will be using is a 14 foot disc. I have also decided I do not need a front end loader. I am color blind (in terms of tractor makes and reality), so I wanted to see what others recommend. That said, John Deere, Case/IH, and AGCO dealers are somewhat nearby. I don't have the funds to buy something brand new and believe I can spend about $12,000 tops for a decent used one, and I prefer working on the older tractors anyways. What Make/Model would you recommend? A question posed like this should tighten up the scope considerably.

This story is about the day my Grandfather Brown (true name) decided along with my parents to purchase a new Ford tractor. It wasn't really new except to us. The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule. Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
