The dirty little secret of hydrogen is producing the fuel. The production of hydrogen in mass quantities needed for transportation produces ground level ozone. Ground level ozone is the major component of smog. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Some really smart guy said that, and it doesn't just apply to movement of objects. Our fuel production with gas, diesel, and NG is as clean as any fuel will ever be. As I stated the other day, even EV batteries aren't clean because of their production, end of life, and human cost (being Africa, nobody cares).
The real end game here is the elimination of privately owned transportation.
