Thanks for the good report for those of you that have been in touch with him! Early on, with the wisdom, experience and common sense that he shared, I had the picture of him being a man much older than me, only to later discover that he and I are practically the same age. I've saved several of his posts. One that keeps coming to mind is when the fence was down, cows were out, and a deputy drove in right where it wasn't helpful, then the cows automatic fertilizer spreaders got active . . . . .!!! I'm in North Carolina, but have cousins that I haven't met in Iowa. My older brother hauled a lot of farm machinery from Iowa to NC so he had more contact with the Midwest relatives. I think I could enjoy visiting JD sometime and seeing his operation, plus some sharing of life experiences.
