I remember the Saturday night after the 1994 elections. I was listening to A Prairie Home Companion on the radio while I was milking. Garrison Keillor was moaning and complaining that the people who had just elected the new majority were the same people who drive to the bar on Friday night in a new pickup and complain that they shouldn't have to pay school taxes because they don't have kids in school.
I was offended to no end because I had voted for the new majority. Time seems to be proving him right. The whole world is upside down. Now it's more patriotic to take welfare than it is to pay taxes.
