Totally different head design and direction injection rather than indirect injection. The pistons are different as well because of that. Most of the lower end parts will interchange but are a bit different. Case kept all the best of the 30 series design and made it better with direct injection. Makes for a good starting hard pulling and very reliable engine. Don't know if any better in a tractor.
