Great tractor. All of mine have bee ndiesel so I can't comment on the gas engine. You are looking at a 10 speed Select-O-Speed transmission. Parts are difficult to obtain (expect no dealer support) but not impossible to find via the Web. finding someone to work on them is a challenge though there are several compotent folks on the Ford board found below. Shift it through each gear, check the PTO (brake should stop the shaft when the PTO is off). Ask more questions after you take it for a spin. I've owned three 5000's and two 4000's with the SOS transmission and love it for my hay work. Good luck!
