Hello Ford Fans. I have a 1953 Ford Golden Jubilee that my Dad bought used when I was around 7 years old. Back sometime in the 60's Dad put a Ford 2000 hydraulic pump on it so that it would better lift the JD 494A planter we were pulling behind it. (Our 'big tractor at the time was a Massey-Harris 44.)
The tractor mostly sits in the barn these days. I occasionally use it for grading the gravel barnlot. The 3-point lift has been getting slow for awhile. Time before last when I had it out, the 3-point arms wouldn't lift until I drove the tractor down the lane and back, which apparently stirred up the oil. Last time I had it out, even after running it for 20+ minutes to warm things up, the 3-point arms never raised.
I'm interested in thoughts you might have on what could be the problem. Hydraulic fluid level is on the mark, and there are no external leaks. Surely my 60 year old hydraulic pump isn't just worn out?

Cylinders are the reason for the hydraulic circuit. They take the fluid power delivered from the pump and magically change it into mechanical power. There are many types of cylinders that one might run across on a farm scenario. Each one could take a chapter in
